Dear Aaron Greer,

I think it was one of the most creative and well thought out films ive seen in sometime.
I like how you used and urban setting for the film. It reached out to many of the African Americans their such as myself that can relate with the main character Eric. The moment that stood out to me the most was when the mother of Eric sent him to get his grandmothers medicine for her diabeties, and how he has a uncle that its always on the move in the streets. That stood out to me so much that at one point I became Eric. It reminded of my life and where I come from. Everyone should see this film be cause to me its a film of trying to do the right thing in a negative enviornment. We all can relate with Eric and the rest of the characters on some level.

Blog #1 It proved to me that we are all creative in class to get a ending like that really all it takes is thought and time. When they mentioned how at the end the owner of the bar was really Sonny's father that changed the story up completely.

Blog#2 It wasnt as creative as I thought it would have been. It seemed like they were decribing just the end of the story and not the beginning to the end type of deal.

Blog#3 Simlar to my ending. It described how the story should have been about Sonny's brothers blues.

Sonny's Blues continued

The story should have been Sonny's brothers blues because really he was the one with real grief. He was the one worried about his brother when he was sent to jail for heroine use. I feel that he is also the one who has to look out for his brother. Not just because his mother told him, but he knows he needs to because at one point he didnt think his brother knew how to handle is emotional problems. It was truley a blessing for Sonny's brother that he finds out he plays music now. In his eyes its his way of releasing stress. That alone lifted the stress off of his brother somewhat so thats why it should be titled Sonny's brothers blues.

Beginning of Sonny Blues

The short story of Sonny Blues by James Baldwin, starts off with the two brothers Sonny and his younger brother. The narrator in paragraph 2 explains how scared he is from the journey from the subway station to school everyday. He describes in detail how he lets ice melt on his belly as he kills time in his algebra class. Paragraph 3 explains the way Sonny looks. It also describes how he was caught for using heroin in an apartment complex.
Paragraph 6 class has now ended and the narrator ( the younger brother) now describes how wet he is from the ice and how he sat alone in class waiting for the bell to ring as if he was underwater holding his breath. He hears little boys laughing outside and it reminds him of his brother Sonny and he back when they where younger. One of the young men the narrator hears outside sounds like a bird humming its natural melody. Paragraph 8 the narrator talks about how he looks over into the courtyard and notices that spring is coming soon. He also watches how the teacher is watching the boys play wait to get away from them. Finally the young narrator says he is ready to go home and and see Isabel.

(old) the end of tears of a tiger

I have finally finished reading the book. In a way I wish that I had not finished reading the book because of the very tragic ending. Just kidding, but at the end of the book, I found myself in a pillow full of tears. I tried to control my emotions, but the harder I tried, the more I cried. The book hit real close to home. A few years ago, I lost my cousin from a self-shot to the head. As a result, my family was very detrimental from his lost. We could not understand what could have possibly been going through his head to make him take his life. I know that a lot of things may have just been so overwhelming for him, but no matter what the case is, I do not feel as if death is the answer. I just felt so bad for Andy because unlike my cousin, before he killed himself, Andy really did try to talk to someone first. I wish that Andy had a better support team that could have seen that behind his smile laid guilt and misery. Draper did an excellent job on this book, and I commend her.

(old) how tears of a tiger hits close to home

Death is somethings that can hit you so hard and linger with you. In this book Andy was hurt so that he started blaming himself because of the death. Ive had death experiences in my life and i have not blamed myself for one. Right now my only grandparent have not been herself these days and may not be with use for as long as i want her to be. But i feel like i should be there with her in these times. And i plan on it over this break to give her one of the best christmas's she has had. I love you grandma.

Gathering things the hard way

Growing up as a child for Gerald was very rough. He was loved by his dearing mother, Monique, but she did not know how to really show it. She went about teaching him lessons in the wrong manner. For example, letting him sit in his feces to teach him not to defecate on himself. This was a harsh thing to do considering the fact that he was only an infant. Another example was when she burned his hand to teach him not to play with fire. Yet another lesson, but it did not teach him because he went on to play with fire anyways with the consequence of leaving his mother to suffer. The time away with his Great Aunt Queen was a good thing for him.

to bad for keisha

I really feel bad for Keisha because she feels left out. On top of her having to deal with looking at her friends' relationships blossom after hers has been destroyed, she has to deal with the feeling of guilt from Andy's death. I really hope that she finds a companion or a good friend to help her overcome her feelings of despair. I also can't wait to find out what her own dark stain is that she mentions. So far I like this book because it brings back the memories of my high school graduation, the day that I anxiously awaited. Can't wait to see how this book ends.
